S&D Reflector subscribers that would like to attend the 75th Anniversary Luncheon can register online. Cost is $35 per person and includes roundtrip motorcoach from the Lafayette Hotel to Clarington, Ohio, white tent luncheon overlooking the Ohio River, tour of the Ohio Valley River Museum, and visit to the Hannibal Dam. The bus departs from the Lafayette Hotel following the Saturday morning business meeting. All registrations must be received by August 15th.
It is special to note that 2014 marks not only the 50th anniversary of the S&D Reflector but also the 75th anniversary of the Sons & Daughters of Pioneer Rivermen (S&D). As we approach the anniversary celebrations during our annual September gathering at the Lafayette Hotel in Marietta, Ohio, a moment must be taken to detail a few major improvements and a general revamping of S&D.

The W. P. Snyder, Jr. steamboat is the subject of a new documentary produced by WOUB-TV. “Saving the Snyder” will chronicle the Ohio Historical Society’s yearlong restoration of the nearly 100-year-old boat. The documentary will premiere in Marietta on Friday, May 13 and in Ironton on Saturday, May 14. Tickets for the premieres are $10 and will be sold at the door.
